Job Fairs: A Guide

Job fairs are a great way to learn about new career opportunities that may help you get on your way to an exciting new path in life. They’re also a great use of your time, since you get to meet with many employers in one day. The infographic below has some great information for you, and Jamie, one of Goodwill’s Job Placement Specialists and new contributor to the blog, has extra tips for you:

  • Develop questions. After you narrow down the list of employers that interest you, have questions ready to ask about their company and position.
  • Proofread your resume. Your resume is a blueprint of your skills and something tangible to remember you by. Make sure you proofread your resume at least twice and have it updated as well. It’s always a good idea to have someone else look at it.
  • Take time to talk to employers. Don’t just drop off your resume and leave. Take time to speak to the representatives and make a positive impression!
  • Have a firm handshake and great eye contact. Let employers know you are serious. Greet them with a firm handshake and maintain eye contact throughout the conversation. Be confident, dedicated, and attentive!
